Teaching assistant

Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to join an expanding school in Salisbury, Wiltshire. We are currently seeking a number of Learning Support Assistants or Teaching Assistants to join this school on a full-time basis. Experience is preferred but not necessary. The School is specialised in educating pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The pupils come from a variety of backgrounds and either have an Education Health Care Plan (ECHP) or are undergoing statutory assessment. The school is an easy commute from areas such as Southampton, Romsey, Andover and Winchester as the school is only a 10 min walk from the train station. They have both primary and secondary aged pupils on site and they need staff that are completley flexible and able cope with working in different classes and environments. The students will have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and as such are better suited to 1:1 or 2:1 learning and will have an individualised curriculum based on their specific needs. The school support young people to develop their emotional wellbeing and social skills. As a Learning Support Assistant you will support the school to develop students to cope better with the things they find challenging whether this is during their school day or at home. Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting assistants and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils. They are looking for individuals that are passionate about developing a career and will be willing to put you through training, including teaching training for dedicated members of the team. The successful Learning Support Assistant will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills. Previous experience of looking after children would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important. Your main duties and responsibilities will include: Plan and support a child with SEMH needs and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring manner Be reliable and punctual when working individually in the community or when part of a team and supporting colleagues to do their jobs Actively plan and join in play and youth activities including swimming, ball games, music and more Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people Keep records and write reports when required Always ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding Experience is preferred but not necessary.
