Qualified Social Worker - Greenwich - Children in Need Team Expectation of 3 days work in the office per week and 2 days working from home. * Provide social work help and intervention to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need so that children maintain a reasonable standard of health and development, receive reasonable parenting, and have a sense of permanence through secure attachment to their parents or carers. Where a child is disabled take action to minimise the effect of their disabilities so they have the opportunity to lead lives as normal a life as possible. * Identify where children are unable to live at home, take action to secure permanence for them within a timescale that meets their needs. Where children are looked after address their needs in accordance with their care plan or pathway plan, so that they make progress and have every opportunity to fulfil their potential as adults. * Make sure the child is at the centre of assessment, planning, intervention and review activity, understand their lives views and wishes (appropriate to their age and understanding) so that there is a narrative and understanding of the child and family #39;s history that informs actions taken to achieve positive change for the child. * Act as a lead professional coordinating the work of professionals so that positive sustainable change is achieved for the child, or appropriate decisions are made about stepping up the intervention. * Wherever possible work with parents / carers to strengthen protective factors and reduce risks to the child #39;s welfare, seeking to establish rapport and trust as a basis for parents changing their behaviour so that the child receives safe reasonable parenting, or alternative arrangements are made for bringing up the child. * Work with foster carers, special guardians, prospective adopters and other people who are looking after someone else #39;s children, so that children #39;s needs are met and that they are able to live as normal a life as possible, understand their journey to their placement, are making good progress in terms of their health, development and education, and are prepared for their transition to adult life. Benefits in this role: * Supportive team and management * Flexible working available * Long term contract * Progression opportunities Your main responsibilities include: * Hold and effectively manage a complex and varied caseload with appropriate supervision, guidance, and support, reflecting the function of the team and the Vulnerable People Service in accordance with policy, procedures, guidance and legislation. * Undertake work within legislative frameworks including the preparation of written statements and representations to the judiciary at Court hearings. * You will be accountable for complex decision making in relation to caseloads ensuring professional judgement, service user involvement, needs led assessment, critical reflection, and analysis to inform this. * You will identify and assess levels of risk and need (within statutory frameworks) in often complex situations. Undertake safeguarding investigations and deliver protective and/or supportive services for individuals at risk and maintain up to date assessments, care plans and reviews. * You will be preparing statements of need/care and support plans, in consultation with other agencies as appropriate, that reflect the wishes of the individual and lead to the commissioning of personalised packages of care. * You will undertake direct work with adults and their families in line with care plans. * You will work co-operatively with both internal and external colleagues across multi - agency boundaries.
