The Role: bull; Perform thermal analysis tasks of satellite structures, systems and equipment bull; Analysis tasks can be global (full assembly) or part/equipment level bull; Manipulate 3D geometry using CAD tools, create models from geometry bull; Model the insulation properties (MLI) using adequate methods bull; Simulate mission cycles bull; Perform post-processing and generate appropriate outputs bull; Develop scripts to support pre and post-processing activities (e.g. Python) bull; Analyse results and extract main conclusions and assumptions bull; Present and report progress and results, externally and internally bull; Maintain direct working relationships with clients and represent both your work and possibly the work of team members during client meetings bull; Produce technical slide packs and reports Your Profile: Qualification and Education: bull; Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline, ideally fluid dynamics/heat transfers or aerospace Skills and Requirements: bull; Understanding/knowledge of physics relating to heat transfers. bull; Experience with thermal modelling approaches, including lumped-mass bull; Experience with orbital characteristics and radiation modelling bull; Familiarity with space technologies, in particular thermal control bull; Experience with numerical models and simulations bull; Knowledge of Systema software package bull; Experience with engineering documentation bull; Good communication skills in client-facing situations bull; Ability to adapt to new projects and environments Security Clearance: Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required. There are other criteria and check required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
