Road worker

Thrive Oldham are recruiting a Road Worker in the Bury area. Duties/Responsibilities: Excavation by hand or machine of existing footways and carriageways, kerbing and channels. To operate, competently and safely, a range of plant and equipment associated with highway construction to include the use of: middot; Floor saws to saw through tarmac middot; Masonry saws for cutting kerbs/concrete middot; Brush cutters middot; Pneumatic equipment to dig up roads and footpaths middot; Compacting equipment middot; Vibratory equipment middot; Portable generators middot; Cement mixers 3. To competently and safely operate ride on equipment to include: middot; Dumpers middot; Rollers middot; Mini diggers middot; Mini planer middot; Surface removal planer middot; Bob cats 4. To produce work to meet specification and quality standards to include: middot; The need to work to precise levels middot; Preparation, application, compaction and removal of soils, rocks and other materials middot; Planning off existing tarmac middot; Laying tarmac middot; Surface dressing including hot materials middot; Flag and block paving middot; Laying kerb middot; Construct dropped crossings middot; Laying reinforced concrete middot; Fencing middot; Walling middot; Excavating trenches to lay drains middot; Rebuild collapsed roads and drains middot; Constructing road surface drainage systems middot; Diverting flood water middot; Erection, fixing and/or dismantling of highways furniture and equipment middot; Erect and maintain crash barriers middot; Erect and maintain retaining walls 5. The signing, coning and protection of works in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and New Roads and Street Works Act, with particular regard to the safety of work colleagues and the travelling public. 6. To complete relevant documentation, read and interpret plans and instructions as required. 7. To work with information technology and associated systems. 8. To comply with the Council #39;s relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post. 9. To work 100% of the time outdoors in all weather conditions and alongside live traffic, plant and equipment. GBP12.00 Per hour 7.24 hours to work over 5 days
