Rail civil quantity surveyor

My client, a Rail Principal Contractor is recruiting for Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors across their Rail business across a variety of London locations - North and SE London The Senior Quantity Surveyor reports directly to the Senior Commercial Manager and deals with the day-to-day commercial activities for all jobs allocated to them. Responsibilities: * The QS will Manage and keep cost to completion sheets up to date for each project. * The QS will be involved in Internal meetings with Project Managers and Site Agents to review budgets, project costs and discuss compensation events. * Assist with procurement, raising requisitions, sending enquiries for projects and tenders. * QS is responsible for checking purchase requisitions and raising PO rsquo;s. * Prepare and submit monthly sub-contractor payments as and when required. * Manage applications from suppliers for works completed. * Ensure certifications have been issued by the client for works completed and liaise with accounts to produce invoices. * Payment chasing by team of Quntity Surveyors. * The QS will produce monthly CVR rsquo;s and carry out ongoing cosy analysis. * Approve monthly supplier invoices. * Close out the project commercially. Essential: * HND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent * Previous experience of the Railway engineering industry * Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law * Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and accruals calculations * AThe QS will have ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis * Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative * Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines. * Ability to encourage and support junior members of the Commercial Team Desirable as a Quantity Surveyor: Member of RICS or other relevant professional body or working towards
