Electrical design engineer

The Electrical Design Engineer is a customer-facing role for a highly skilled, qualified individual to pioneer innovations and advanced designs for our Food processing equipment. The Electrical Design Engineer will design electrical systems from scratch working with the Mechanical engineering team to broaden product versatility and improve systems performance in order to guarantee that our client continues to provide innovative solutions and product leadership in the food processing industry. Key Duties and responsibilities The main responsibilities of the Electrical Design engineer are set out below. * Ensure that customised solutions continue to lead the industry in proper processing of food; * Research food industry and stay on top of trends and new developments. * Collaborate with Sales, Service, Engineering and Suppliers on customer needs, competitors and product positioning. * You will have ownership of the design project from conception to installation so will ensure accuracy in your work and collaboration and excellent communication with key stakeholders throughout. * Excellent communication with strategic customers throughout lifetime of project; working alongside the sales team to analyse production processes and evaluate systems performance to identify design improvement opportunities; travel to customer sites 20+%. * Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and external product teams; initiate concept designs, propose design modifications and innovative attachments that achieve customers rsquo; new product /process requirements; * Understand how to electrically integrate our equipment into our customer rsquo;s manufacturing lines including power requirements, digital signal handshakes, Ethernet interconnects, and PLC programming. * Generate required documentation including electrical drawings, manuals, and procedures on new projects. * Train our technicians and customers on the electrical and controls systems of our equipment. * Learn and understand how our supplier rsquo;s equipment control systems work. * Ability to work remotely and communicate to our customers rsquo; machines via VPN and installed communication devices. * Maintain an up to date CAD library of electrical drawings. * Displays positive attitudes and behaviours at all times * Is proud to represent our brand and culture, and promotes our values * Ensures that the best interests of our client are upheld at all times. * Operates within the legal and regulatory framework. Skills Experience Necessary Qualifications/Skills A qualified Electrical engineer with a minimum of a Batchelors degree or an HNC in Electrical, Electromechanical, Robotics, Automation or Food Processing discipline. Or 5+ years experience in a relevant role You will have a current and proven track record as an Electrical Design Engineer having designed the electrical systems required for the operation of capital equipment or special purpose machinery. You will have experience of incorporating gearboxes, motors, PLC rsquo;s, servo controllers safety devices into machinery. You will have experience creating electrical drawings with AutoCAD and Draftsight. You will be able to efficiently troubleshoot electrical and/or control systems. You will be naturally inquisitive and a collaborative team player. You will have a hands on approach. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people via reports, emails and verbal communication. You will ensure accuracy in your own work as most projects are of a bespoke nature. You will be comfortable working autonomously and managing your time effectively within a small UK design department with additional support from a larger US team. Desirable Qualifications/Skills Programming or coding experience, or an interest in this area. Food processing equipment electrical design. Electro-Mechanically qualified and or experience in systems design. Knowledge of factories and how production lines work. Previous experience with an equipment manufacturer - food industry experience is highly desirable
