Electrical design engineer

Job Description - Job title: Electrical Design Engineer Reporting to: Electrical Design Manager Hours: Basic Hours: 07:30 to 16:30 Monday - Thursday and 07:30 to 13:30 Fridays. Being salaried, expected to undertake necessary hours to complete function. Location: PLF International, Ardleigh Purpose of the position Ensure the electrical aspects of the machines are designed to the highest standard, within budget and within the requested time frame. Ensure internal customers are kept up to date with electrical design aspects. Generate project specific Electrical Schematics, Line layouts, Test Documentation, Safety Documentation Inspection Documents. Specify electrical components from customer user requirements for use on projects. Generate wiring diagrams cabinet layouts using Electrical CAD Software. (Solidworks Electrical) Generate BOM #39;s using an ERP system. Develop, test, and evaluate theoretical designs. Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety time constraints in all designs. Ensure the quality of work generated reaches the required standard. Provide technical telephone support for customers. Provide support off site to resolve customer #39;s technical issues. Responsibilities duties #x258C;Responsibility 1 - Electrical Design: Ensure the Electrical Design is carried out in a cohesive manner with a singular purpose of ensuring the electrical aspect of the machines are designed to assigned budgeted hours, at the required quality and by the required date. Work together communicate with other departments to ensure their needs are met. #x258C;Responsibility 2 - Electrical Assembly: Remotely assist in the manufacturing of the end products. Provide electrical technical assistance as required. Always be looking at ways to improve the business, both from within your own function and that of others. Take responsibility for identifying and championing new ideas. Academic trades qualifications EssentialDesirable Proven track record in generating electrical designsDegree in Electrical Engineering General education to A/As or equivalent in Maths EnglishHNC/D in Electrical Engineering Work experience skills EssentialDesirable Good PC skills - Word, Excel, etc. Knowledge of ERP systems.Electrical Engineer for a minimum of 5 years Good time management skills, able to prioritise work accordingly.Experience of working to project plans and timescales Understanding of relevant global technical StandardsUL Standards (NFPA, NEC America) Ability to design electrical Schematics using an Electrical CAD PackageSolidworks Electrical and EPlan CAD Personal qualities behavioural traits EssentialDesirable Excellent communication skills, both written and verbalWillingness to work additional hours when the job dictates Excellent approach/manner, with ability to deal at all levels of an organisationAttention to detail, but able to take a holistic view when required Willingness to work as part of a close-knit team, but capable of working independently when required.
