3 Ways to Prepare for a Job Interview

If you are looking for a job then you are probably aware that taking a job interview is something that should normally be expected if your job application has awaken the interest of your future employer. In order to successfully finish this process you must be ready for the things that will take place before, during and after the interview.

Job interview preparation is a really important phase. Before you sit across from the person who will perform the interview, it is crucial to collect most of the information about the job you are applying for, the type of questions that are usually asked, how long the interview will last etc. Before you start with the interview you should take few things into consideration. These things will help you prepare in the best way.

  1. Gather information about the company and the job position

You can start by reading recent newspapers and magazines where the company is mentioned and try to learn more about it. Since almost all serious companies have their own websites, you can use the internet to learn more about the company too. Find their official website and read more about the company’s mission, goals and visions. Find all the news related to your company and try to find out more about the field of their work. Once you are finished with this task it is good to learn more about the job position you are applying for. Find out what type of knowledge, skills and abilities are required to perform certain tasks. Try to find out whether you meet all the criteria and to what extent. Be honest and be as objective as possible in your self-assessment. If you notice that you have some weaknesses regarding certain tasks try to find out what you can do to improve your knowledge and skills and make sure you point out that on the job interview.

When you are looking for a job, you will often find yourself in a position that requires saying something about yourself in a minute or two. Even if this is not the case it is always a good idea to summarize your experience in a minute or two. You should never leave this task to the current inspiration. You need to create and rehearse this short presentation. Design a short and clear presentation about yourself and include the most important things in it. For example, you need to say where you finished high school/college, description of your last job, description of the experiences you’ve gained with your previous work, special skills, foreign languages etc. It is also a good idea to write down these things and rehearse because in this way you can make your presentation more interesting. Ask your family members or friends for help.

There are many questions that are repeated on every interview. That’s why you need to prepare answers to these questions. You can find advice about these questions on the internet. Thanks to the secure and calm answers on these questions you will leave a good impression on the interviewer and increase your chances to be hired.
