About the role Balfour Beatty are looking for a Fire Safety Assurance and Improvement Manager to join our HSE Enabling Functions Team. The Fire Safety Assurance and Improvement Manager will own the relationship with the Balfour Beatty business units to drive Fire Safety performance, ensuring efficient and effective advice and support to meet, and where possible exceed, operational requirements supporting the Head of Fire Safety to achieve Zero Harm objectives. This is a full time national role including a mix of office and home working (we welcome flexible arrangements). The role will require flexible movement around the UK to support, audit and assure construction site fire safety performance, as well as develop the central Balfour Beatty view on compliance performance. What you #39;ll be doing Work with business units to assure they meet compliance requirements set out in legislation, developing a compliance monitoring and data insights system for fire events, and reporting data back into the business. Provide expert fire safety management support where necessary to our workplace premises. Visiting project site locations to perform internal Fire Safety Management audit and assurance checks. Assurance that functional business units have the appropriate levels of competency to manage fire safety arrangements, developing competency offerings both now and for the future. You may be required to facilitate training from time to time. Provide a level of expertise in fire safety management to those who hold accountability and / or responsibility. Work with our Fire Services team to assure the Fire Risk Assessment process, co-ordination, and performance measurement of compliance for our workplace premises. Challenge the norm by innovating and improving the way we work in Fire Safety Management, whilst keeping pace with industry change and promote successes. Who we #39;re looking for The following qualities/experience are required: Able to grasp and understand the requirements of: Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other UK equivalents Fire Safety Act 2021 Building Safety Act 2022 Construction (Design Management) Regulation 2015 Fire Safety in Construction (HSG 168) Fire Prevention on Construction Sites (Joint Code of Practice) Fire Risk Assessment processes and guidance (PAS79 / HM Guides) Has, or is working towards, a qualification in Fire Safety Management. Experience in Construction Site safety requirements. Experience in Active and Passive Fire Protection systems. Is determined at working through challenges to find solutions. Flexible in working style and can work with a variety of audiences. Can work well as part of a dynamic team, managing their time effectively against deliverables.
