JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Design Engineer to oversee and manage all our adoptable highway design projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in highways design and construction, particularly in undertaking S278 S38 designs and applications. As our Highways Design Engineer, you will be working closely with our Technical Director and Civils Groundworks Director to ensure the successful delivery of our civils highway projects. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires excellent design, organizational, and communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop detailed engineering designs for highway and road projects, including S38 and S278 applications. * Prepare drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, cost estimates and health and safety plans for highway construction projects. * Ensure designs comply with national and local regulations, standards, and codes. * Collaborate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals. * Manage and oversee highway design projects from conception to completion, including site supervision of highway and infrastructure projects. * Conduct inspections to ensure construction activities align with design specifications. * Address, challenge or resolve any design-related issues during the construction phase. * Prepare health and safety documentation, design risk registers and operation maintenance manuals to ensure all designs are CDM compliant. * Be involved in project management and technical delivery of highway projects. * Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be expected at this job level. REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor #39;s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. * Minimum 3 years of experience in highway design and engineering. * Proficiency in relevant design software, such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D. * Strong understanding of highways engineering principles and practices. * Knowledge of relevant regulations and codes governing highway design. * Excellent project management and organizational skills. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Thoroughness in reviewing and preparing design documents to ensure accuracy. in return we offer a great place to work with great benefits including: * Discretionary Bonus Scheme payable twice annually * Pension contribution * Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave * 4-weekly pay (13 pay days per year) * Free Parking * Free onsite Gym
