A background in design / development (e.g. electronic design, embedded software, mechanical design) or systems engineering would be preferred (e.g. electronics, software, mechatronics etc) ideally gained within the automotive, avionics, aerospace or similar industry. Location: Office based, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire The role will involve full lifecycle (V model) systems design engineering activities including the capture and development of customer requirements into functional requirements and specifications, systems integration activities and the development of test and validation requirements in conjunction with development and test teams. The role will be hands-on including integration activities (hardware / software) to ensure product features and systems meet product requirements. This will require engineering design / development knowledge (e.g. electronic design, embedded software, mechanical design) but an appreciation for the greater system. Required: Systems Design Engineer * 1-4 years of post-academic experience gained within the automotive, aerospace, electronics, mechatronics, or other similar product development environment. (e.g. electronic design, embedded software, mechanical design) * A degree in a relevant field (e.g. electronics, computer science, mechatronics, automotive engineering) * Product engineering experience and ability having spent time on the design, development or test of complex electromechanical systems. * An appreciation of systems design, the systems engineering cycle (V model) and capturing requirements from customers. * Good practical engineering aptitude (e.g. software or hardware integration, hands-on problem solving, development of systems in a lab / workshop) The ideal candidate would be an engineering graduate that has spent 1-4 years within industry either within a systems engineering or design / development engineering role (e.g. electronic design, embedded software, mechanical design.) This experience would have been gained within systems design or product development of complex electromechanical systems used within the automotive, aerospace or other similar fast paced environment. The systems engineer would have strong communication, organisation and practical skills and be proactive, adaptable and keen to learn. These machines include electric vehicle technologies as well as conventional powertrains, hybrid and hydrogen engines. In addition some of the products include autonomous systems, collision avoidance / ADAS systems, hydraulic control, etc. In short you can be exposed to a variety of technologies. This systems engineer role is based onsite and is commutable from Rocester, Stoke on Trent, Northwich, Crewe, Macclesfield. Derby, Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Stafford, and Burton.
