Environmental manager

Carmichaels are seeking an Environmental Manager with Infrastructure experience to work on a major highways project in Birmingham. Responsibilities include: bull; Assist the Highways Environmental Sustainability lead and wider Infrastructure environmental team in any best practice initiatives and delivering ad-hoc improvement projects. bull; Be responsible for the collection of data and report against the project rsquo;s monthly environmental KPIs bull; Be directly responsible for a small team of environmental professionals within the project team. bull; Be responsible for contributing to resource management, forecasting and succession planning, and providing required support projects and initiatives. bull; Be responsible for ensuring environmental management compliance and best practice on projects and sites, and continual improvement. bull; Provide advice, support and assistance to all project and work winning teams to enable them to manage their environmental responsibilities. bull; Provide advice, support and assistance to operational and project personnel to enable them to deliver and manage their environmental and sustainable responsibilities and objectives. bull; Assist in the development and delivery of suitable environmental and sustainability training for all project staff. bull; Represent and promote the Environment Enabling Function in internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums ndash; communicating best practice standards and initiatives We rsquo;re looking for someone with: bull; Good level of environmental management and general sustainability experience preferably gained in an infrastructure on construction environment bull; Experience / competence managing operations within an accredited environmental management system, including people / processes / systems bull; Experience / competence generating and delivering improvement initiatives within an operational function or project bull; People and team leadership / development experience and capability bull; Demonstrable passion and commitment for sustainability, carbon reduction and environmental outcomes The ideal candidate would preferably have: bull; Degree level in appropriate Environmental discipline or relevant construction/Highway Industry experience bull; Have Practitioner/Full membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEMA or similar) bull; Problem solving and innovative thinking
