SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER PROJECT DEVELOPMENT Vertical Recruitment are proud to be working with a reputable renewable energy and utility contractor that are at the forefront of the UK #39;s low carbon energy generating systems of the future. As a leading turnkey engineering contractor, they design, install, operate and maintain environmentally friendly energy generating systems and networks employing technologies including air source and water source heat pumps, commercial and utility scale solar photo-voltaic plants, grid connected battery energy systems and biomass boilers. They require an Senior Electrical Design Engineer, to work in this exciting and growing sector of the industry. The Role: Reporting to the Principal Engineer, this role involves a broad range of electrical design work on industrial, commercial and public sector projects. This will include pre-construction/tender design work including concept design work, review and analysis of third-party specifications/drawings and detailed design work for pre-construction service agreements (PCSA) and investment grade proposals (IGP). The role also requires engagement with equipment vendor supply chain, site investigations and surveys, client meetings and input into tender submissions and presentations. Working within a team of different grades of electrical engineers you will be responsible for elements of the electrical design including electrical plant layouts, switchroom and substations layouts, equipment and cable sizing, lighting design, containment sizing and building services design. Knowledge and experience of HV design work would be advantageous. You will be responsible for electrical engineers and junior electrical engineers of varying levels including allocation of work, reviewing and checking of documentation along with ensuring all projects responsibilities are delivered on time and to programme. Key Duties: Electrical design work during pre-construction stages and during project delivery as required by the department rsquo;s workload. * Conduct electrical design work during both pre-construction stages and project delivery, adapting to the department #39;s workload. * Ensure timely execution of electrical design deliverables for tender and bid projects. * Make day-to-day decisions on tenders and projects, offering advice to internal stakeholders and clients. * Apply a holistic approach in selecting and implementing engineering concepts and solutions. * Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractor teams. * Ensure that engineering calculations and drawings comply with robust industry and legal standards. * Conduct surveys and report on existing electrical installations. * Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver technically compliant tenders. * Lead the coordination of engineering services within the project team. * Engage with the equipment vendor supply chain to ensure electrical equipment selections are technically valid, specification compliant, cost-effective, and available within the program. The Person: The successful candidates will ideally be qualified at degree level or similar (HNC/ HND), with a minimum of circa 3 to 5 years rsquo; relevant experience working for a consultancy or a contractor.
