SEND Art Photography Teacher (KS3) Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Location: Beddington Park, Church Lane, Wallington Salary: Teacher Main Scale (Outer London Area) GBP34, 514 - GBP46,001 + SEN Allowance GBP2,539, Salary determined on appointment plus an SEN allowance. Depending on qualifications and experience Hours: 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year The Role The Academy is an outstanding special school situated at the edge of Beddington Park in Wallington. It has 247 students aged 7-18 with a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs, including complex needs. There are plans for the school to move to a purpose built Free School in 2024. Key Responsibilities * The education and welfare of designated classes or groups of pupils in accordance with the requirements of Conditions of Employment of School Teachers, having due regard to the Academy rsquo;s aims, objectives and schemes of work, and policies. * To share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and pastoral care of all pupils. * To carry out any reasonable instructions given by the Principal or Senior Leadership Team. * Have clear intentions for children rsquo;s learning and to use knowledge of school policy and National Curriculum requirements to plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning. * Use a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles and to communicate clear learning objectives and expectations. * Use relevant classroom management strategies to ensure that a purposeful environment for teaching and learning can take place. * Organise and maintain a stimulating working environment appropriate for the range of activities taking place. * Ensure that resources are organised and readily available to promote learning. * Support positive behaviour taking into account the personal, social and emotional needs of pupils. * Establish and maintain a positive regard towards both pupils and staff, promoting equality and diversity. * Work as a member of a team, planning co-operatively, sharing information, ideas and expertise. * Consult and plan with multi-agency colleagues, as appropriate. * Act as a form tutor and establish good relationships with families to promote pupils rsquo; learning and development. * For general class teachers, consistently and accurately assess pupils rsquo; progress and achievement, especially in English, maths and science. Skills and Qualifications * Qualified Teacher Status * A good degree, 2.2 or above in the relevant subject advertised. * Recent successful experience of working with and/or teaching pupils with special educational needs within any school setting including mainstream schools, teaching a variety of subjects. * 2 years experience * Proven ability to demonstrate excellent classroom practice. * Proven ability in working successfully as part of a staff team * Evidence of knowing how to evaluate one rsquo;s own strengths and weaknesses. * Evidence of effective partnership working with parents and carers. * Evidence of successful multi-agency working (Desirable). * Knowledge and experience of current good practice and curriculum developments in special and mainstream education provision. * Knowledge of how to develop appropriate schemes of work to support student progress. * Knowledge of child development.
