HV Designer/Engineer Location: Walsall or Remote with a visit to Walsall once every 2 weeks Our client is a leading provider of utility connection services, specializing in electricity, gas, water, and telecommunications infrastructure. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HV Designer/Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, management, and optimization of HV/MV substations and grid connections. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create construction document sets and ensure that our projects meet the highest standards of reliability, quality, and safety. Key Duties and Responsibilities * Design and manage HV/MV substation projects, collaborating with other disciplines to create construction document sets. * Design HV/MV grid connections and LV systems for substation auxiliary systems. * Optimize designs to ensure maximum reliability, quality, and safety during the construction stage. * Identify commercially appropriate contracting strategies and participate in tender evaluation and contract negotiation. * Participate in site selection reviews, site planning activities, and jurisdictional compliance assessments. * Read and comprehend design documents, including layout drawings, schematics, single line diagrams, and equipment data sheets. * Design critical electrical substation equipment and prepare conceptual and detailed drawings using AutoCAD or Revit. * Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment. * Collaborate with local utilities and agencies to define site utility requirements and ensure compliance with regulations. * Review and approve equipment submittals and participate in 360 reviews for new solutions and vendors. * Provide technical support during construction phases and assist with commissioning activities. * Troubleshoot electrical failures and provide engineering evaluations and audits as needed. * Travel to sites for site reviews and work with onsite field engineers to ensure project success. Requirements: * * Bachelor #39;s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. * Proven experience in HV/MV substation design and management. * Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit for conceptual and detailed drawings. * Strong understanding of HV/MV grid connections, LV systems, and electrical equipment. * Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and building codes. * Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions. * Willingness to travel to sites and work with field engineers as needed.
