Design manager

The Company My client is a well-established and well-respected Main Contractor and have been for over 100 years. Operating from their Guildford Regional office they deliver design and build, new build and refurbishment projects up to GBP25m in value across most sectors including but not limited to; Education, Arts and Culture, NHS, Sports Leisure, Commercial and MOD works. Contracts are split evenly between traditional and design build, with a high proportion of their work (up to 60%) being won on a negotiated basis. They take pride in providing a quality product to their clients and also take pride on their high level of staff retention. They consider themselves to have the professionalism of a PLC but the flexibility of a regional contractor. Taking a non-adversarial approach to their work has resulted in a very strong order book with a good proportion of repeat business from their clients. Due to their continued success and organic expansion plans they are looking to recruit an experienced Design Manager to join their Guildford team. Working closely with the Senior Design Manager, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to manage all aspects of the design production You will be leading the design on exciting projects across many different sectors up to the value of GBP25m in and around the Guildford region. Duties include but are not limited to; Setting design deliverables, schedule drawings, specifications and other design information required for construction. Prepare design programmes, attend / chair design team meetings and issue actions. Projects are typically within a 1-hour radius of Guildford; time will be split between working from site and working from home or office Candidate The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a Design Management role and have strong industry experience from either an architectural or project / construction management background, working for a main contractor on similar sized projects. Communication, attention to detail and working collaboratively are crucial in this role. You will have a positive attitude and confident approach, being able to communicate with people at all levels.
