Traffic manager

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Traffic Manager on a 3 months contract with the possibility of further extension. Main purpose of the role: Overseeing traffic management schemes around schools. Main accountabilities: Project manage the initial phases of capital projects principally related to highways. This will include managing initial feasibility, undertaking community engagement and consultation and managing the preliminary and outline design phases and securing all necessary approvals Support the Principal Project Manager in similar activities on larger projects Provide expert advice to senior colleagues on community engagement and street design Work independently and with a high level of creativity within broad instructions and objectives provided by the Principal Project Manager. This will include drafting complex reports, committee items and briefings for Senior Managers and Members, managing detailed funding applications, project briefs and tender documents. Independently make recommendations for action contained in individual projects including balancing of competing needs and priorities. Develop and steer own work programme in conjunction with line manager. Manage a large portfolio of projects with a total value of up to GBP1m, and to maintain quality management systems to monitor and control contract expenditure and performance against project specifications. Also to manage capital funding applications and all consequent awards, and prepare detailed financial returns to internal and external funding agencies.
