Senior health and safety advisor

About the role Balfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Major Projects Team on the Old Oak Common Project in London. HS2 rsquo;s station construction partner, Balfour Beatty VINCI Systra joint venture (BBVS) are leading the construction of HS2 rsquo;s new Old Oak Common Station. Set to be the best connected and largest new railway stations ever built in the UK, Old Oak Common will become one of the country rsquo;s most vital transport super hubs. The station will have 14 platforms, a mix of six high speed and eight conventional service platforms, with an 850m-long station box. It is expected to be one of the busiest railway stations in the country with high speed rail services to the midlands, Scotland and the North and access to central London and Heathrow via the Crossrail Elizabeth Line. The Senior Health and Safety Advisor will provide risk-based assurance that the project is compliant with all HSES requirements and provide expert HSES technical advice, guidance, and support. What you #39;ll be doing Implement Business Unit strategy through visible leadership to drive the delivery of Safe at Heart. Provide project teams with expert HSW technical advice, guidance and support. Collaboratively engage with both internal external customers and the supply chain to promote zero harm delivery. Undertake regular site inspections as per project risk matrix and produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record HSW inspections. Undertake regular checks on Health and Safety Risk Management highlighting risks and opportunities. Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and HS2 requirements. Engage and develop relationships with design engineering teams to eliminate and reduce HSW risk through design. Challenge the norm by innovating and improving the way we work, whilst keeping pace with industry change and promote successes. Provide support and mentoring to other HSW colleagues in their development. Promoting: - Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy - Values, aspirations and commitments - Golden Rules - HS2 Values and commitments Who we #39;re looking for Required experience/Qualifications: Relevant Health Safety Diploma, NVQ or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification). Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework. Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture by engaging and conversing at all levels. Ability to undertake project planning, project management and work to budgets. Competence in incident investigation. Ability to prepare formal written reports on HSW topics.
