Chemical engineer

Consilium Recruit is exclusively partnering a leading manufacturing group to manage their recruitment of a Chemical Engineer. Due to growth and expansion, the company are looking to recruit a Chemical Engineer to conduct testing and provide guidance on all matters relating to chemicals used in the manufacturing process and to ensure all hazardous waste is correctly controlled and disposed in line with defined legal procedures. Commutable from: Burnley, Blackburn, Manchester, Bolton, Rochdale, Bolton, Accrington, Bradford, Wigan. Salary: GBP 34,000 - GBP 42,000 p.a. + benefits Suitable for: Chemical Engineer, Senior Chemical Engineer, Chemical Analysis Engineer, Environmental Engineer, HSE Engineer. The Role Assessment of all hazardous materials on site and any new substances to be used. Provide appropriate information, instruction and training on hazardous substances. Provide training and advice on use, handling and all aspects of chemicals. Provide support for chemical analysis, stock lost tests and preparation of special solutions as required. Liaise with local authority on any issues in relation to Prescribed Processes Regulations and arrange for monitoring of fume scrubbers as per the regulations. Keep comprehensive historical records to each machine including all coolant chart and dip slide records. Ensure all hazardous waste is disposed of safely and in compliance with environmental legislation, ensuring accurate record keeping of waste transactions. Perform checks on Water Treatment Plant to ensure consent to discharge is not being breeched. Liaise with suppliers of coolants, oils and additives to ensure adherence of technical requirements. Act as the company representative on all issues in relation to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals). Carry out environment aspect assessment for ISO14001. Support of accident investigations as required. The Candidate Strong knowledge of chemical analysis and reporting. Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities with a focus on continuous improvement. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneity. Experience of coolant management systems and environmental waste streams (preferred). Knowledge of COSHH and REACH guidelines (preferred). To apply send your CV to Alex Price
