We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Quarry Manager to join and lead our friendly operations team at our Tarmac Eaton Hall Sand and Gravel Quarry near Congleton. This role is accessible from Eaton, Congleton, Manchester, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Buxton, Leek, Northwich, Winsford, Sandbach, Crewe, Stockport and the surrounding areas. Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Operations Manager the Assistant Quarry Manager will manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site. Tarmac Eaton Hall is a Sand and Gravel operation which includes dredging, sand processing and drying. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role. As Assistant Quarry Manager you will also be responsible for: Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, whilst maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports Understand different methods of winning and extracting raw material Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry, including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques Understanding Quarry Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8 appointment (either C or D) All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations Maintaining and implementing existing and new, Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the same Managing and overseeing the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site rsquo;s equipment fixed and mobile with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partners Reporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practices Issuing of safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team Managing proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrix Collating and report on monthly performance KPI for your business unit for the Area Operations Managing and driving operational performance through KPI rsquo;sThe role of Assistant Quarry Manager is a days role Monday to Friday, but flexibility is key with the expectation to be available to meet with our plant rsquo;s operational needs. A van is provided with the role.
