Job Title Senior Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Apprenticeship Assessor (Curriculum) Salary GBP15548 - GBP25914 plus allowance Start Date: September 2024 Initially 21 hours a week (GBP15548) increasing to full time (GBP25914) Monday ndash; Friday 35 hours, term time only. Description: My clients school is a large and highly successful special school educating some c300 students aged 2-19, who, due to their complex needs, require significant specialist support to succeed academically and achieve their full potential. The school rsquo;s mission statement is to be the Centre of Excellence for students with special educational needs. My client is an apprenticeship main provider, offering high-quality training not only to internal candidates but also to other schools and colleges. Working with the Apprenticeships team you will support the Apprenticeships Manager with the progress and assessment of Level 3, 4 5 apprenticeships. Experience of developing learning materials is desirable to enable you to write the curriculum for new apprenticeship courses. You will also support, coach, monitor and assess learners to successfully complete and pass their apprenticeship. Must Haves: * Degree level education or equivalent relevant experience. * Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with a minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent or working towards. * Desirable - Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment. Assessor qualified, A1, CAVA, or D32, D33, or working towards. * A level 5 qualification or above experience of developing course materials and writing a curriculum. * Previous experience working as an assessor. * Occupational expertise in the competences and/or syllabus areas to be assessed. * Occupational competence (at least two years rsquo; experience working in a school). * A commitment to maintaining own expertise by undertaking continuous professional development activities. * Ability to follow and implement standards/course syllabus/national guidance. * Can use ICT effectively to support learning. * Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice legislation. * Understanding of statutory frameworks relating to apprenticeships and assessment. * Specialist skills/training in curriculum or learning area. * Ability to lead and direct the work of others. * Ability to give constructive feedback to learners which improves their standard of work and progress. * Ability to monitor and evidence learner progress. * Ability to undertake assessment of learners rsquo; work. * Excellent organisation and planning skills. * Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. * Sensitivity and understanding. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work independently and manage own time effectively. * The ability to work well with others gain trust and respect. * To be flexible and open to change. * Full Drivers Licence and use of own car with business insurance. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: middot; To enrol new apprentices and liaise with employers middot; To assess learners rsquo; performance and/or related knowledge in a range of tasks middot; To ensure that the competence/knowledge demonstrated meets the requirements of the standards/syllabus middot; To be available to learners as required middot; To ensure each learner is aware of his/her responsibilities in the collection and presentation of evidence middot; To agree and record assessment plans with each learner middot; To fully brief learners on the assessment process middot; To follow assessment guidance provided by TQUK and the centre middot; To observe learners rsquo; performance in the workplace and/or in simulated situations, and/or conduct other forms of assessment in accordance with the qualification requirements middot; To evidence and record assessment decisions against the standards/syllabus whilst ensuring that assessment of performance by observation is unobtrusive middot; To provide learners with prompt, accurate and constructive feedback middot; To manage the system of assessment from assessment planning through to making and recording assessment decisions; middot; To assess evidence of learner competence against the national standards of occupational competence within the qualification middot; To ensure validity, authenticity, currency and sufficiency of evidence produced by learners middot; To maintain accurate and verifiable learner assessment and achievement records middot; To confirm that learners have demonstrated competence/knowledge and, where further evidence is required, have completed the required documentation agreeing new assessment plans with learners as required middot; To be available for discussion with the Internal Quality Assurer/Qualification Coordinator and/or EQA middot; To demonstrate commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities middot; To ensure that any member of the public (clients/service users) involved in assessment gives informed consent and that there is no risk of intrusion into areas of privacy and/or confidentiality middot; To ensure maintenance of confidentiality for sensitive information middot; In liaison with the Apprenticeships Manager, to write the curriculum/syllabus and prepare learning resources for new apprenticeship courses. middot; To support the Apprenticeships Manager with apprenticeship assessment related tasks and to provide regular updates on learner progress and any issues SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL: middot; Comply with and assist with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns to an appropriate person. middot; Be aware of and support difference and ensure all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. middot; Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school. middot; Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with teachers and the Apprenticeships Manager to support achievement and progress of learners. middot; Take the initiative as appropriate to develop appropriate multi-agency approaches to supporting students. middot; Recognise own strengths and areas of specialist expertise and use these to lead, advise and support others.
