Principal structural engineer

Overview Atkins Search are recruiting for an experienced Senior/Principal Structural Engineer on behalf of an established engineering consultancy based in Nottinghamshire. They work on a range of interesting projects across the UK including commercial, public sector, student accommodation, blue light, education and bespoke residential. Client Our client is a respected engineering consultancy who have been in operation for over 40 years, with structural and civil engineering as the foundation of the business. They offer a range of services including geotechnical, environmental, flood risk and highways consultancy. Role The successful candidate will be joining the Structural Engineering Reports team, the team primarily investigates structural/building problems and advises on remedial actions as well as undertaking small scale structural design projects. As a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer you will be a key figure within the team and play a part in the development of the junior members offering continuous support and guidance to them. This is a full tome position, however for suitable candidates part time hours of no less than 3 days per week would be considered. Responsibilities * Engage in thorough examinations of structural and building problems to identify defects and their causes. Research, review and understand documents prepared by other professionals that relate to and inform the outputs of the role. * Determine effective and innovative remedial actions to address defects and their causes. * Create detailed, clear, and concise reports, ensuring they meet the highest professional and company quality standards. * Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members to share insights, seek advice, and contribute to collective problemsolving. * Monitor time and resources to ensure assignments are #39;on plan #39; in relation to fees and budget, taking action and escalating issues as appropriate. * Determine fees in accordance with company policies, ensuring invoices are raised in a timely manner. * Work closely with our domestic and commercial clients to understand their unique needs and deliver tailored solutions. * Ensure all outputs adhere to industry standards and all relevant regulations. Person * Degree in structural or civil engineering and chartered status (or close to chartered status). * Excellent communication skills, including effective report writing and explaining findings verbally, considering the needs of nontechnical clients. * Ability to carry out simple structural design using both hand calculations and computer based techniques * Full UK driving license.
