Title: Commercial Manager/Head of Commercial Location: Weston-Super-Mare Salary: GBP70,000 to GBP80,000 + package Sector: Construction, Specilaist contractor Start Date: ASAP The Company: Our client is an industry leading specialist contractor with offices across the M4 corridor from Cardiff to London, based from their HQ in Weston. The company is able to offer the complete package of Design, Installation and Maintenance of unified structured cabling systems for modern day business connectivity. Projects can be across all construction sectors including Commercial, Public sector and Data Centres. With over 20-years rsquo; experience delivering projects in both the public and private sectors, including: Government Departments, Educational establishments, correctional institutions, health care establishments, they have experience in delivering bespoke structured cabling solutions on range of projects in challenging environments. Commercial Manager - The Role: A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or above to join head office as the commercial lead. This is an excellent opportunity to impliment QS systems, build and lead a team as a key leader in the company. You will be responsible for leading the day to day commercial aspects of projects, reporting to the Managing Director. This role will involve occasional (1-2 days per month) to London and other locations, but will be based in the Weston office. The role will suit someone with expericne working for a main contractor or specilaist contractor. Typical duties responsibilities: * Setting up formal QS processes and procedures and rolling out/up skilling various departments and team members to ensure optimum commercial return is achieved on all projects. * Prepare the cost / value reconciliation reports accurately * Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company. * Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins. * Ensure sub contract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and / or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals. * Maintain control of sub contractor`s accounts and minimise the cost of any variations. * Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence. * To carry out duties as quantity surveyor on projects as instructed. * To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project in their control. * Prepare or assist with cost / value reconciliation reports on a monthly basis accurately reporting the forecast final financial position of the project. * Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager at the commencement of all projects, updating as required and recording actual valuation achieved against forecast. Commercial Manager - The Person * You will have solid experience with a cconstruction main contractor or a specialist sub-contractor * M E experience is advantageous but not essential * Demonstrable experience of delivering commercial aspects of new build projects within budget and programme * Able to impliment QS systems and processes and train staff on how to use. * Innovative - ability to identify better ways of doing things * A good team player, someone who wants to be part of a growing business to achieve common goals.
