Health and social care teacher

Role Description: Teacher of Health and Social Care Full Time and Permanent Salary: GBP30,619.63 - GBP47,330.98 dependent on experience. Job Purpose To contribute to the achievement of the Mission and strategic objectives of the College by: Ensuring effective learning and teaching that meets the needs of individuals and assists in the achievement of the learner rsquo;s full potential. Accountability Accountable to the Learning Area Manager for their teaching area Duties/Responsibilities Statutory middot; Read and adhere to the current EWC Code of Conduct middot; Act within, the statutory frameworks, which set out their professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the duties outlined in the current Sixth Form Colleges Pay and Conditions Document Curriculum middot; Demonstrate a sound and up-to-date knowledge of the relevant specifications in your curriculum area middot; Develop and refine teaching materials, including schemes of work and learning materials. middot; Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons that seek to ensure that the interest and engagement of all learners is achieved and maintained. middot; Develop a range of approaches to learning and teaching which are appropriate to the learners rsquo; needs and which encourage learners to become more independent in their learning. middot; Provide high quality learning and teaching experiences through the use of e-learning. middot; Establish positive relationships with learners which promote the achievement of learning. middot; Record and monitor learners rsquo; attendance. middot; Undertake a range of approaches to assessment and ensure that formative assessment is central to assessment practice. middot; Regularly assess learner achievement and attainment in the light of previous achievement and attainment with a view to enhancing the value added of each learner. middot; Monitor and report on learners rsquo; progress and achievement. middot; Address issues of learner underperformance, working in conjunction with pastoral staff. middot; Attend parents rsquo; consultations and briefings, as required. middot; Attend all relevant staff, course and curriculum area meetings, as reasonably required. Safeguarding middot; Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children. Professional Development middot; Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and contribute to quality assurance processes, receiving guidance from your line manager. middot; Participate in induction programmes for new staff and other staff development opportunities, as required. middot; Participate in the performance management process operating within the College. Other middot; To have professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the College and maintain high standards in your own attendance and punctuality middot; Perform any reasonable duties as requested by the Principal, Senior Leadership Team and Learning Area Manager You may from time to time be required to undertake other reasonable duties. The job description and allocation of responsibilities may be amended by agreement from time to time.
