School caretaker

TEMPORARY/CASUAL Caretaker - Clyst Vale Community College We are looking for someone to provide a general custodial and maintenance service ensuring that the premises are secure and maintained to the satisfaction of the Principal. The post holder is expected to be sympathetic towards the pupils of the school, the ethos the staff have developed and to carry out their duties accordingly. Principal Duties: * The full security of the premises and its contents. Undertake unlocking duties daily. * Emergency key holder, attend call outs as required. * Undertake general caretaking duties as necessary on a daily basis. * Undertake, from time to time, such cleaning duties as required. * The porterage of parcels, furniture, equipment and supplies, to include checking deliveries as directed . * Undertake caretaking duties for weekend lets (on a rota basis), and evening lettings when necessary. * Ensure that the policies and procedures relating to Health Safety regulations are fully observed. * Take part in training, where necessary, to carry out your duties effectively. * Maintenance tasks, as directed. * Undertake basic audit/maintenance checks as directed. * Assist Maintenance Caretaker as required. * Covering for staff absences, which may include a temporary change in hours. * Undertake painting and decorating duties as required. * Organising access to the site for contractors when necessary. * The maintenance of the internal and external areas of the school as required. * Replenish consumables as required throughout the site. * Undertake weekly, monthly quarterly legionella checks when required. * Read all utility meters on a monthly basis and record on spreadsheet. * Carry out PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) when required. * Check monitor the room booking system, identifying any room set up requirements. * Check/monitor the maintenance helpdesk system, prioritise work and carry out maintenance tasks accordingly. * Any other duties of a similar level or nature that may be required in support of the day-to-day operation of site services. * DBS needed: we will arrange. HOURS OF WORK: All year round 36 frac14; hours per week In Term Time: 7am ndash; 3pm Monday ndash; Friday (39 weeks) 30 minute lunch + 15 minute break each day In School Holidays: 09:00 ndash; 17:00 Monday ndash; Friday (13 weeks) 30 minute lunch + 15 minute break each day If this sounds like the job for you please apply!
