This job centres on the discovery, testing and development of world class gas sensors as well as the wider techniques and technologies that support gas sensing and detection. It is suitable for someone with relevant qualifications in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a related discipline who demonstrates a keen interest in science and technology. This hands-on, practical role will be based in ION #39;s brand-new Technology Centre. Researcher, Sensors - The Role: The Role will report to the R D Director and will involve the following: bull; Hands-on work in a laboratory environment, handling gases, chemicals, electronics, gas delivery systems and test equipment bull; Running research experiments and characterising the performance of sensors bull; Undertaking batch tests over extended periods to assess lifetime bull; Performing manual measurements, use of dataloggers bull; Data analysis bull; Writing experimental methods, scientific and test reports bull; Organisation and maintenance of lab equipment and inventory bull; Working collaboratively with senior members of the team Researcher, Sensors - The Person: This is a hands-on role and the person appointed will be expected to: bull; Maintain high levels of focus bull; Have exceptional attention to detail bull; Be capable of working independently as well as within a team bull; Be able to work on their own initiative bull; Demonstrate a diligent attitude to health and safety/ safe working practices bull; Support and embody ION #39;s core values Researcher, Sensors - Technical qualities: bull; Previous experience of gas sensing, sensors or related techniques e.g. gas chromatography an advantage bull; Use of laboratory tools and equipment such as fume hoods, gas regulators, vacuum systems, power supplies, data loggers, mass flow controllers bull; Experience in the handling and storage of hazardous chemicals and bottled gases bull; Basic understanding of electronics e.g. use of Arduino controllers and Python bull; Degree or HND level qualifications in a relevant subject e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline If you have the required skills and experience, click on APPLY today and forward your current CV and covering letter, with salary details, explaining why you are a good fit for this role.
