Design manager

Desing Manager ndash; Construction * Main Contractor * Pharmaceutical Project * Permanent: up to GBP80,000 + Package * Based in Didcot We are currently searching for a Design Manager for a busy main contractor in Didcot. This role will be covering this contractor rsquo;s pharmaceutical division from their offices in Didcot. This is a busy division with strong growth plans for the Oxfordshire region and as such need to bolster their design team. Typical projects will range from GBP40m ndash; GBP120m and as Design Manager you would be responsible for schemes from pre-construction through to handover. The Role: * Oversee and manage the design process for construction projects from inception to completion. * Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints. * Coordinate and lead a team of designers and drafters to develop design concepts, plans, and specifications. * Review and analyse architectural and engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards. * Provide technical guidance and expertise during the design phase, offering innovative and cost-effective solutions. * Conduct design reviews and coordination meetings to identify and resolve potential conflicts or issues. * Manage design changes, variations, and scope adjustments while considering the impact on cost, schedule, and quality. * Ensure effective communication and coordination between design team members and other project disciplines. * Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to integrate their inputs into the design process. * Monitor and track design progress, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely completion. * Facilitate value engineering exercises to optimise design solutions and maximize cost savings. * Collaborate with the construction team to provide technical support and address design-related queries during construction. * Ensure adherence to project budget and cost control measures during the design phase. * Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain design integrity and accuracy. * Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in construction design. * Foster a collaborative and positive working environment within the design team. * Uphold and promote health and safety practices throughout the design process. Experience Required * 3+ years Design Manager experience with a main contractor. * Pharmaceutical experience is beneficial but general commercial build experience would be suitable.
