Production manager

Role Title: Production Manager Purpose of the Production Manager: * Achieve the objectives and targets set by the Site Director. * To manage, lead and inspire a flexible team of Shift Leaders, Production Operatives, Warehouse Operatives and a Production Support Coordinator that oversees the manufacturing and distribution of finished products within the site, to ensure that the expectations of customers is met. * Responsible for the training and competency assessment of the production and warehouse team to ensure a consistent, standardised and safe approach to work tasks, that quality standards are upheld, taking into account costs, KPI rsquo;s, safety and the wellbeing of their team. * To develop, document and maintain performance standards for the production and warehouse teams, ensuring that all manufacturing processes have a safe system of work in place via up to date risk assessments and standard operating procedures. * Be fully aware of, and ensure compliance with all Statutory, Corporate and Local Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations. * To use all available Zero Harm tools to enable safe working and to support and promote Zero Harm across all areas of site enabling tangible improvements to site and departmental Zero Harm metrics and performance. * To set and maintain high standards of housekeeping in areas of direct control and to promote continuous improvement in housekeeping levels in all areas of responsibility. * To be site contact for the commercial team to advise on raw material cost and availability. * To support purchasing of raw materials by involvement in discussions with suppliers regarding contracts, volumes and pricing. * Oversee the formation and implementation of production schedules for each manufacturing cell from base stock to conversion to finished product, maintaining communications with all functions involved, such as Production Support Coordinator, Technical, Production, Engineering, and Customer Services in ensuring customer requirements are met. This involves: * * requisitioning specific materials and packaging * meet requirements of current stocking policies * ensure that labour is allocated correctly to these demands based on requirements communicated from the Production Support Coordinator Knowledge, Experience and Skills of the Production Manager * Project management experience is desirable. * Degree qualified or suitable industry experience. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows based systems. * Experience of working in highly regulated manufacturing e.g. Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Food etc * Knowledge and understanding of training methods and trained in assessing competencies in the workplace. * Good knowledge of computerised business systems, especially planning and works order transactions. * Ability to cope with workload under pressure. * Ability to lead and direct a team and to work proactively and efficiently with other functions. * Self-Management e.g. time management and personal development. * Interpersonal skills ndash;influencing, negotiating, counselling, communicating, supporting. * People management ndash; staff development, resourcing and performance management
