Steel Fixer Location: Sunderland, Tyne and Wear Contact: Manjot Singh: (phone number removed) / Akanksh : (phone number removed) Job Description: As a Steel fixer Operative at Tag Constructions, you will be responsible for fabricating and installing steel reinforcement structures used in concrete construction projects. Your primary duties will involve interpreting engineering drawings, cutting and bending reinforcing steel bars, and securely fixing them into concrete forms to enhance the strength and durability of concrete structures.. Responsibilities: Interpretation of Drawings: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the requirements for steel reinforcement in concrete structures. Steel Preparation: Cut, bend, and shape reinforcing steel bars (rebars) using manual or machine tools according to project specifications and bending schedules. Installation: Securely position and tie rebars into concrete forms or structures using wire, clips, or other fastening methods, ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and support. Fabrication: Fabricate steel reinforcement cages, frames, and other structures off-site or on-site, as required, following established fabrication procedures and safety protocols. Quality Control: Inspect and verify the quality and dimensions of reinforcing steel bars and fabricated structures to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures at all times, including the proper handling and storage of steel reinforcement materials and equipment. Collaboration: Coordinate with site supervisors, concrete finishers, formwork carpenters, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of steel reinforcement with other construction activities. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of steel reinforcement quantities, dimensions, and placements. Complete daily progress reports and other documentation as required. Requirements: - CSCS Steel fixer - Proven experience as a steel fixer or in a similar role within the construction industry. - Thorough knowledge of steel reinforcement techniques, materials, and equipment. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. - Proficiency in using manual and machine tools for cutting, bending, and shaping reinforcing steel bars. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and placing steel reinforcement.. - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications. - Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions. - Valid driving license may be advantageous for site travel.
