Maintenance engineer 4 on 4 off days nights

Experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer required to work for large manufacturing plant in Devon. Working within a continuous improvement environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and performance improvement of fully automated process and packaging equipment. You will provide effective, efficient and timely response to plant breakdowns with respect to site maintenance issues, ensuring maintenance and calibrations are completed on time and in full as per the site requirements, and ensure a proactive response to maintenance activities and breakdowns on site ensuring continuity of production and services and compliance to the production plan by minimising engineering downtime. The successful candidate must be able to work a 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern rotating as follows - 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off. Key Responsibilities: * Support and coach the effective development of Engineers, Operators and Team Leaders in their upskilling on their lines. * To step change the performance and efficiency of the existing plant through continuous improvement techniques. * Establish clear objectives and priorities with Engineering Coordinator to enable manufacturing to meet operational targets. * Responsible for monitoring and improving the planned maintenance system and ensuring work is planned and progressed. * Updating of plant parameters/set points etc. as per site procedures, as and when required / requested. * Ensure that plant and equipment perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards. * Undertake the training of others as and when required. * Take ownership for own learning and development needs, continued upskilling and multi-skilling across the Engineering department. * Work closely with support functions to ensure resources required are identified and communicated with all outstanding issues resolved. * Communicate as required with Planning, Production and all of site to ensure projects are implemented on time and in full. * Communicate daily with Engineering Coordinator / Shift Deputy to ensure planned maintenance, engineering and production priorities are considered. * Communicate as required with Engineering Admin to ensure that spares are available for planned and breakdown maintenance. * Completing change of shift handovers to a good quality, communicating effectively with other team members * Championing CI and supporting energy saving projects delivering cost saving initiatives across a range of categories, seeking ways to improve duties to make safer, cleaner and more cost-effective ways of working. * Aid with risk assessments, accident and Near Miss investigations when necessary and escalation of issues to line manager / relevant department in a timely and accurate manner Work closely with all departments to ensure production lines efficiency is maximised and that any issues are highlighted and resolved in timely fashion. * Follow all Safety, Health and Environmental procedures (ISO, SOP rsquo;s) that relate to this role, carry out and document all equipment pre-use safety checks, reporting any issues identified and enhancing behavioural awareness through actively challenging, ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed (including contractors) * Ensuring compliance documentation is completed accurately and correctly. * On time and accurate delivery of data recording e.g. DWOR, downtime, waste etc. * Carry out any ad hoc duties that may be required by the business from time to time. Essential Experience, Qualifications and Candidate Attributes Required: * Minimum of 4 years recent, proven experience working as a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer within Engineering or Manufacturing, ideally with high-speed automated machinery (FMCG experience would be highly beneficial). * A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering ndash; A HNC or HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering would be highly beneficial. * Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a collaborative approach to communicate at all levels. Strong negotiation skills to gain support to drive success across the business through people. * Ability to deliver results on time, within budget in a pressurised environment. * A self ndash; starter with an enthusiastic, positive and energetic approach with pro active actions coupled with the ability to be task focussed. * A Continuous Improvement Champion.
