Manufacturing engineer

This Manufacturing Engineer rsquo;s role is a fantastic opportunity for a strong engineer to work within a prominent manufacturer in the North East. This role is full time and offers a competitive salary and benefits package. This is a pivotal position in the team and offers an opportunity to oversee the projects from appointment at contract review stage, through to handover to Quality Control. You will be joining their site based in Newcastle. About the Manufacturing Engineer Role Reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will focus on the creation of sound manufacturing methodology to ensure the most effective route through the machine shop. Other responsibilities will include: * To ensure all drawing and customer requirements are captured, understood and carried through into the manufacturing method. * To ensure CNC programs are produced offline and verified by use of NC code verification software to run right first time when released to the shop floor. * To ensure that any fixturing or tooling required is designed and/or purchased in line with production requirements. * To utilise time on the shop floor to support manufacture of the product; ensuring machining strategies are being utilised effectively. * To liaise with tooling suppliers to ensure that the business is utilising the latest technology available completing off site visits and training where required. About You You will be an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with the ability to create high quality programs that run first time and are capable of producing the desired product. You will be a strong communicator and have excellent problem solving skills. Other requirements include: * Time served apprentice or equivalent NVQ / BTEC qualification in mechanical engineering * HNC in Mechanical Engineering or 5 years minimum service in similar role * Experience of EdgeCam or Siemens NX would be advantageous, as well as Vericut or similar software * Experience of 5-axis machining and/or programming would also be advantageous * Good knowledge and experience of application of cutting tools * Experience in one or more of the following sectors; nuclear (civil and defence), MOD and aerospace. * Proficient in the use of CAM software for all machining disciplines * Able to interpret engineering drawings and produce manufacturing routes * Competent in producing 3D models and 2D drafting Thank you for your application!
