The role: Cover Supervisors manage the classroom in the absence of a regular teacher. Work is prepared and set for you by the regular teacher and all instruction is provided; so no planning and preparation of materials is expected by you. Taking of registers for each class using the schools preferred system. Implement classroom management strategies such as seating plans, enforcing school behaviour policies and clear communication with pupils. Cover Supervisors will be expected to cover a full range of subjects and year groups as and when the school need classes covering. No formal teaching qualifications required. Teaching Personnel can support you with Cover Supervisor training and can arrange shadowing days to help build experience before stepping into the role.
