Lead occupational therapist

You will be joining a service for men and women who have enduring mental health problems. With experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will be responsible for managing a complex caseload using evidence-based and people-focused principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual and group interventions which will support the service users to develop their skills in self maintenance, productivity and leisure. You will report directly to the Therapy Lead, with the opportunity to work autonomously in your running of the OT department. With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you rsquo;ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of online and CPD training courses to support you reach your career goals. As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be: Participating fully with the multidisciplinary team and encourage the service users to be fully engaged in their care pathway Managing and co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the occupational therapists. Ensuring the team maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient rsquo;s rehabilitation / progress. Ensuring the effective and efficient management of more junior staff. Supporting clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies under the strategic direction of the Therapy Lead and other members of the Senior Management Team. To be successful in this role, you will need: To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist At least 3 years post qualifying experience. Experience in assessing people with a variety of psychometrics and risk assessment tools To be able to work therapeutically, engaging people in developing insight and coping skills to manage their complex needs Experience in supervising and managing junior members of the team A full and clean UK driving licence Where you will be working: Location: Pinhoe View, College Way, EXETER, EX1 3PZ Join the team at Pinhoe View - a new purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards and eight individual flats. The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis. Clinical and therapeutic services at Pinhoe View are delivered in a safe environment, providing the opportunity for recovery, while rehabilitation services provide a pathway of care supporting individuals back to their community.
