Assistant Quantity Surveyor GBP32,000 - GBP36,000 + benefits Civil Engineering - - S278 sections of work, large scale infrastructure, earthworks, roads, sewers and bridges Southampton About the company: The company that I rsquo;m recruiting for are a privately owned, leading name within the Highways, Bridges and Civil Engineering sector within England, turning over GBP105M. Since starting up the company in the late 60 rsquo;s, they have become a very trusted partner with clients within Kent, Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, East Midlands and Hampshire. The firm specialise in S278 and S38 works, as well as construction and maintenance work for all types of highway schemes, from minor roads to motorways and major route construction. They also specialise in the bridge infrastructure, utilities and rail. Their projects generally involve plenty of concrete works, deep drainage and major earthworks ranging in value from GBP1M - GBP11M. About the opportunity: Due to successful company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to form an integral part of the current Commercial Department. Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing costs with the goal of making as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you rsquo;ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Manager. You will receive 26 days annual leave, which is exclusive of bank holidays, and you will be enrolled on to the company pension scheme. About the requirements: In order to be considered for this position, you will need to be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar. Additionally, you must have a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience and this must have been gained whilst working for a civil engineering main contractor or specialist subcontractor in the UK. Additionally, due to project locations, you must hold a full UK driving license and live within a commutable distance from Southampton.
