SEMH Teaching Assistant needed for a specialist Alternative Provision in Redditch Immediately Do you have experience working with social emotional mental health? Do you live within a commutable distance to Redditch, Worcestershire? Are you comfortable when working with young people with behavioural difficulties? A specialist Alternative Provision in Redditch are seeking a strong and confident SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The school is a specialist setting for young people with social emotional mental health needs and will involve working with autism. Some students are highly anxious and require a calm and predictable environment to access their education. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a small team assisting a class teacher in delivering lessons to students, as well as providing support outside of the classrooms, while students are in school. This may include working with parents, social workers, and other professionals regarding the students and their needs. Your roles will include, 1:1 work, work in small groups, monitoring the school during lunches and breaks etc. The preferred candidate will have: * Experience in working with social emotional mental health(anxiety, autism, attachment disorders) * Minimum 6 months rsquo; experience working with children and young people * Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum * Experience of using CPI (MAPA, Team Teach etc) is advantageous but not essential. * Enhanced DBS registered or willing to acquire a new certificate. * Can effectively manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies. * Will be kind, caring and patient when dealing with children who require specialist support.
