Protection test engineer

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Protection Test Engineer on a 6 Month Contract, based in Stafford. This role is Inside IR35. The Protection Test Engineer is responsible for programming, testing of Protection relays and Cubicles. In-depth hands-on experience knowledge of Protection and scheme design is an essential element of this role. Essential Responsibilities: bull; Perform configuration of protection relays, Validation, factory acceptance test (FAT) of Protection systems. bull; Support site activities when required. bull; Seeks resolutions on hardware, Software, or performance related protection/design issues. bull; Manage Fault reports for resolution via Company rsquo;s process. To adhere to all required procedures and processes in force at any time. bull; Provide weekly time sheets and monthly reports including status of all work undertaken by the Engineer. bull; Communicate Project schedule progress, report quality issues and tools/equipment requirements. bull; Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within client safety standards. bull; Warns the project manager and the technical lead in case of budget deviation forecast / any technical deviation which put the project in risk. bull; Abide by all client and local policies and procedures including but not limited to Integrity, Diversity, Proprietary Information, Conflict of Interest. bull; Apply and adhere the company rsquo;s quality, environment health safety policies to the work at Factory and site. bull; Work in a safe manner and ensure appropriate training is taken to do tasks safely. bull; Report any accidents or injuries while on the job. bull; Oversee cubicle safety good housekeeping practices of team members. bull; Ensure RAMS produced and approved before performing any works. Job Requirements: bull; The incumbent must possess strong knowledge of protection functions, Electrical Scheme, and cubicle design. bull; Strong working knowledge of relays configuration and testing bull; Electrical (motors, generators, power grid and generation) Desired Characteristics: bull; Electrical Engineer with over 5 years rsquo; experience in substations ranging from 11kV to 400kV bull; Ability to travel to customer sites - Must have a valid driver rsquo;s license. bull; Knowledge on Power Protection Systems. bull; Experience with electrical Protection relays (LV, MV HV), detailed design is essential for the job. bull; Strong technical skills on Programming and testing Protection Relays. bull; Ability to perform Functional testing of Protection panels. bull; Experience in Factory Acceptance Testing of protection schemes. bull; Experience on performing testing including but not limited to checking protection functions via secondary injections, GOOSE testing, signal testing with SCADA on IEC61850. bull; Candidates with proven knowledge of client protection relays and Substation automation solutions are preferred. bull; Ability to organize, prioritize and achieve milestones and deliverables. bull; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer focus and ability to cooperate with the different departments. bull; A rigorous team working approach with a high level of self-motivation, flexibility, and self-learning aptitude. bull; Strong interpersonal skills. bull; Strong problem-solving skills. bull; The ability to work independently within a dynamic work environment is essential. bull; Well-developed organizational skills are required. bull; Flexible approach to working hours is essential (extended hours and weekends)
