Senior accountant

One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant. This is a temporary contract for 3 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance. Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary This role is a key member of the finance team that supports the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services Directorate. This exciting role will see the post holder supporting some of the Directorate #39;s major housing, projects and initiatives. They will be an integral part of a dedicated team to facilitate delivery of better outcomes for tenants and residents. Duties and Responsibilities * The successful applicant will report into the Finance Manager or Group Accountant to deliver a full range of high-quality financial management and accountancy services to a range of clients. These include the councillors, functional directors, officers of the council as well as to the council rsquo;s auditors, government departments and external stakeholders in order to support the strategic aims of the council and to assist in the management of the accountancy teams including other professionally qualified staff. * Providing specialist knowledge and expertise in order to assist in the city council rsquo;s revenue and capital budget process, budget forecasting and monitoring processes. * This role will provide financial advice to members and officers and ensures completion of statutory financial statements, statutory returns and financial analysis. * Assisting in the role of ensuring that the city council rsquo;s assets are managed in line with current legislation, the constitution and financial rules of the Council and other professional codes of practice.
