Dseign Manager - Construction You will be having an influential role on Design Management in this large privately owned contractor that works on large GBP20m+ buildings in the Salford and Manchester areas. The team you will be working with is a formed one that has worked with each other for over 20 years so bringing a cohesiveness in their approach. The Design Manager will; Be responsible for leading / managing the design process in order to develop a design compliant with all contract requirements and in the most cost effective way. All information will be fully coordinated in order to deliver the project on time within budget and to meet the client`s requirements. With overall responsibility for Project Design Management. Overall management of the Design Consultants liaising between the Client, the Design Consultants and the project staff for design matters Liaise with Site Manager for the development of design packages and procurement strategies. The Design Manager will: * Ensure pricing assumptions are consistent with the development of the design - with Pre construction manager * Monitors design progress and ensures the accuracy and completeness of design variables at each stage of the design development process (ITN Phase / PB Phase / Construction Phase) * Ensures that all resources for coordination are appointed * Responsible for design compliance, build ability, efficiency of design and supporting the bid process. * Responsible to lead the sign off of documents to the correct status * Defines designer`s objectives: time, details, ratios, coordination`s, etc. * Manage the flow of design information and the Document Control * Support the procurement and commercial teams * Manage (preconstruction) or participate (construction) the Design Transfer from preconstruction to construction Essential Criteria: * Architectural or Design qualifications * Good knowledge of the design process, at commercial and construction design stages with a main contractor. * Good all round technical knowledge. * Working knowledge of building regulations. * Understanding of key design principles such as M E design parameters, fire and acoustic requirements. * Understands the principles of Building Contract and Consultant Contracts * Good knowledge of contractual issues related to consultants * Good presentation skills * Management of meeting process For further information or a confidential conversation contact our Managing Consultant on the details enclosed
