Company accountant

About us We are an established Electrical Contractors providing design and installation of electrical projects to commercial, industrial, public sector and domestic clients. We also have a specialist division providing EV charger installation to commercial and residential customers. This is an exciting time to join the business as we go through a period of growth. About the role Reporting to the Managing Director, the Company Accountant will be key in ensuring success during this period of expansion. They will provide vital support and expertise, advise on and implement best practice, develop and manage efficient finance processes and implement a new finance software package. Responsibilities * Prepare monthly management accounts including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements * Analyse financial performance, identify trends, and present findings to the Managing Director * Raise sales invoices * Manage all accounts payable, receivable and credit control processes * Day to day book-keeping * Manage payroll and associated tasks * Bank reconciliations and daily banking of payments received * Deal with all HMRC and VAT matters * Ensure company remains compliant * Manage finance enquiries * Perform other ad-hoc duties as may be required and requested by the Managing Director Experience and knowledge Essential * Minimum of 5 years rsquo; experience in a similar finance role * In-depth knowledge of financial practices in line with statutory legislation and regulations * A sound grasp of financial systems and procedures * Experience of accounting and payroll software Desirable * Experience of the Construction industry * Implementation and roll-out of accounting software Qualifications * Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) or qualified by experience Skills * Highly numerate, excellent attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to prioritise and effectively manage workload * Excellent communication skills * Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Benefits * 22 days holiday plus the usual bank/public holidays * Contributory pension scheme, subject to eligibility criteria * Laptop * Flexible working Requirements: Ability to attend regular meetings in Stockport ** Please note that this role is partially remote.
