Assistant production manager

This is an exciting opportunity to step up to a managerial role in food production for a UK leading fruit delivery company, working closely with and reporting to the Production Manager. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that our daily production process at our main hub in Croydon is correctly executed according to our high-quality standards, and that H S rules and internal work procedures are strictly followed by all production staff. This position will manage the production lines and ensure they run as efficiently as possible as well as ensuring that our products are fit for purpose for customer expectations. The Line Leaders of each production line will report to you. Main responsibilities: bull; Drive the production lines to ensure we are maximising efficiencies without compromising fruit quality and our packing method bull; Liaise on quality issues with the Line Leaders on a daily basis bull; React on time to any fruit quality issues highlighted by the Production and Quality Managers and feedback given by production staff; bull; Carry out the training of new packers joining the business (production line, fruit selection, etc.) bull; Carrying out a daily and continuous count of all products packed bull; Liaise with the Load Controller and the responsible Line Leader regarding the separation and control of different types of products, ensuring that the volume of products is correct, including High Risk products when existent bull; Reporting to the Quality Manager any quality issues detected in any products bull; Continuous monitoring of any missing baskets, reporting issues to the Production Manager bull; Reporting to the Production Manager any staff issues bull; Managing left-over products or products returned bull; Preparing daily paperwork bull; Supervising post-production activities bull; Supervise night staff working hours, start, finish and break times bull; Carry out weekly Line Leaders rsquo; meetings bull; Supporting the Production Manager with other tasks required by the business Required skills: bull; A keen attention to detail and a willingness to strive for excellence is essential bull; At least 2 years rsquo; experience in fresh produce/food manufacturing position bull; 1-2-years rsquo; experience in people supervising/managing role bull; Tenacious mentality to achieve continuous improvement bull; Leadership and capacity to lead the production team when Production Manager is away bull; Organized and methodical person with a ldquo;Hands-on rdquo; attitude bull; Good communication skills (both written and verbal) bull; Excellent numerical skills bull; Energetic and driven bull; Able to drive a Ford Transit van (or similar 2.5 tonne van) bull; Able to work night shifts Working hours guideline: The working hours are 42 hours per week; Sunday 11pm ndash; 8am, Monday 11pm ndash; 8am, Tuesday 11pm ndash; 7am, Wednesday 11pm ndash; 7am, Thursday 11pm ndash; 7am REF - CV41438SB Due to a high volume of responses, we cannot reply to each application individually.
