Health and safety manager

Full job description My client, based in Skelmersdale, is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager The client has an industrial background Overarching principles: middot; Develop and maintain a transparent health and safety plan along with associated objectives which help reduce the risk of personal injury, illness and property damage. middot; Achieve compliance with health and safety legislation as well as meeting customer-driven health and safety requirements. middot; Engage all employees in the promotion and achievement of a safe and healthy working environment. middot; Promote a safety first attitude and lead by example. middot; Be a visible, pragmatic and approachable presence on site. middot; Provide professional and accurate health and safety support to employees and management. Primary responsibilities. middot; Periodically walk the site throughout each working day. middot; Ensure all Health and Safety related checks, inspections and servicing are carried out and remedial actions closed out in a timely manner. middot; Deliver internal health and safety awareness training. middot; Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying actions which help prevent recurrence. middot; Review and where required update, policies and risk control documentation. middot; Question any non-compliance with company health and safety standards middot; Ensure contractor pre work risk control documentation is obtained, inductions undertaken and working practices monitored against agreed controls. middot; Liaise with external regulators as required. Additional responsibilities. middot; Deliver new starter inductions. middot; Complete employee return to work documentation. middot; Undertake environmental site inspections, identifying any deviations from agreed standards. Qualifications and Experience. middot; Demonstrable evidence of working within a health and safety function. middot; NEBOSH general certificate or NVQ equivalent (a minimum of IOSH managing safely may be accepted, along with a desire to undertake additional development training). middot; Membership of IOSH (as a minimum the willingness to join and maintain membership). Personal Capabilities. middot; Good levels of written and verbal communication and engagement skills. middot; The ability to develop positive relationships with colleagues and regulatory bodies. middot; Resilience and patience. middot; Ability to problem solve in a practical manner, prioritise and make appropriate decisions. middot; Ability to write concise but meaningful reports. middot; Good working knowledge of Windows based IT systems. middot; Willingness to undertake training and development as required by the business. middot; Full driving licence (a small amount of intercompany travel is required)
