BSL Support Worker (British Sign Language) Please note: If you require a Visa to work in the UK, SeeAbility is currently unable to support any sponsorship requests Location: Sholing, Southampton, SO19 Salary: GBP12.50 per hour (GBP24,375 per year, pro rata) + Benefits Hours: up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis Employment type: Full-time, Part - Time, Permanent, FlexibleWould you like to work at our brand-new home in Southampton, Hampshire? Who will you be supporting? Hi, my name is Ben and I #39;m shortly going to be living in my own home in Southampton. I am supported by SeeAbility. I use BSL to communicate, and you will too! I am looking for patient, positive, friendly and happy individuals to join my team of support workers. You need to support me to lead the life I want and to encourage me to be gradually more and more skilled and confident. I love to interact with people and I have a curious personality. I really enjoy doing things that most young men like to do like kick a football go for walks, eat out etc. I also like table top activities ranging from puzzles to art. I can be very playful too so you have to keep up with me. I rsquo;d love for people to join my team who have the same interests as me so they would need to be physically fit, 100% reliable and able to provide me with personal care support. I have autism and sometimes my behaviour can be challenging but that shouldn rsquo;t stop me doing the things I love and leading an active life. When I am not in a good place I will stop doing things for myself and I will require a lot of personal care. I rsquo;ll need your encouragement to learn life skills and gain independence but that rsquo;s something everyone needs at times; as long as you are patient, confident and can see the value in small gains, will follow coaching from my behaviour support person and are willing to help when needed we will get along just fine! Responsibilities: Providing direct support when displaying behaviours to enable him to participate in a wide range of activities Ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety To promote independence and develop skills whilst assisting with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences To work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure person-centred care for person we support Develop and contribute to the maintenance of records and support plans and function as a Key worker when required To support our gentleman to maintain a clean-living environment appropriate to meet his individual needs To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to everyone #39;s needsFurthermore, as Support Worker you will be responsible for: Daily activities such as personal care; laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration Getting to know the gentleman you will care for and help him to live the life he wants to live Taking personal responsibility for the quality of care and assistance delivered to the person you will care for Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the person you will take care of Planning and be in favour of activities, such as vacations, learning and social engagements always being creative and exploring new opportunities Ensuring the person, you will assist and his family, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality To work in accordance with SeeAbility rsquo;s valuesYour rewards Our colleagues at SeeAbility are extremely valued, and so everyone has access to a fantastic package of benefits.
