Estimator ndash; Civils Utilities GBP40,000 - GBP5,000 Barnsley A highly sought-after opportunity to work with a leading provider of specialist civil engineering and construction services for infrastructure and utilities projects mainly across the North-East; Yorkshire and the Midlands however they can work Nationwide. Through the quality of their work they have built strong long term relationships with many prestigious clients and work with some of the nation #39;s leading energy companies. This is a full-time, predominantly office based role for an Estimator located in Barnsley with some travel to sites. This is a new role in which the successful candidate will be working closely with the lead estimator and will work with the assistant estimator. The Duties * Preparing bills of quantities by taking off measurements and extracting details from specification documents. * Prepare detailed cost estimates from first principal pricing methods including financial analysis. * Prepare accurate and detailed tender programme #39;s to support our tender bids. * Undertake tender adjudication meetings with the Commercial Director prior to submission of bids. * Prepare quotation letters accurately detailing our tender offer. * Managing and evaluating supply chain enquiries to obtain accurate and competitive quotations. * Building and maintaining successful professional relationships with our clients, consultants and designers. * Chairing internal pre-construction handover meetings. * Assist with business development opportunities. * Provide project account and variation support to the Project Delivery team. * Attendance at team, commercial, client/contractor on-site meetings. * Attendance at tender site visit meetings. The Requirements * Minimum of HNC in Construction. * A proven track record and experience within an estimating role within the construction industry with a desirable focus on civil projects. * Proficiency in estimation software (ConQuest or similar) is desirable. * Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office including Project. * Ability to read and interpret drawings and specification documents. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to adopt a flexible and creative approach to problem solving, adapting to change in circumstances or information.
