Assistant teacher

Brighton College Prep School is seeking an Assistant Teacher in Nursery, to start in August 2024. About the Assistant Teacher in Nursery role: This is an exciting opportunity to join our teaching team as an Assistant Teacher who is fully integrated into the life of the school and Brighton College as a whole. Due to the nature of the role the candidate will need to hold a level 4 qualification or above, in Early Years Education and Childcare. Key responsibilites as a Assistant Teacher: Working closely with the teachers regarding termly and weekly planning, and with other staff to ensure continuity and progression. Attending weekly after-school planning meetings with year group staff. Taking responsibility for planning areas of the curriculum as specified by the teachers. Proactively arranging and setting-up learning environments for impactful pupil use, including outdoor learning areas. Taking responsibility for assessing pupils, and planning and delivering interventions to support learning needs. Ensuring the range of pupil abilities is catered for by well-resourced and planned, differentiated activities. Ensuring monitoring, recording, assessment and reporting are undertaken in accordance with school policies. Assisting, in liaison with the specialist music teacher, the rehearsal and direction of children for concerts and services. Desirable qualities: An interest and commitment to the education and happiness of young children. A sound knowledge of relevant teaching curricular, including any recent changes. A positive approach to assisting and teaching. A caring attitude towards children and peers. Patience and tolerance when dealing with others. Energy and enthusiasm within a busy workplace. Safeguarding Responsibilities: This role will involve daily contact with pupils and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact. Salary: Alongside our attractive range of benefits, including free lunches, a salary in the range of GBP22,580 - GBP25,580* per annum will be offered, depending on experience. *This does not include any pay award the Governors may make for the coming academic year. Hours: 7.45am-4.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive, with a 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak each day. Plus, an additional 5 hours per week for Rockhoppers After School Care Group and an after-school club. You will also be required to work 5 days during the school holidays for Rockhoppers Holiday Club. Benefits: Complimentary lunch is provided.
