Main Objectives: Managing the electronic components in use and those under consideration for introduction in new designs. Key Responsibilities: * Streamlining the usage of current components to minimise redundancy. * Harmonising component part numbering systems for efficiency. * Collaborating with Purchasing to resolve component sourcing challenges. * Ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic components, while managing and minimising component obsolescence. * Identifying alternative component sources and conducting testing and evaluation for new and existing designs. * Maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for all components to facilitate procurement. * Partnering with design teams to select cost-effective components that meet regulatory standards. * Investigating component failures in collaboration with Quality and suppliers, implementing corrective and preventive actions. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: * Background in electronic design with some exposure to purchasing. * Professional or academic qualification in electronic engineering. * Demonstrated experience in component engineering. * Technical proficiency in component engineering principles. * Familiarity with electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration. * Confident, motivated, and well-organised with meticulous attention to detail.
