Weight management engineer

Weight Management Engineer This is a contract position, running through to January 2025, with the potential to extend. Outside IR35. Hybrid working available. Role Responsibilities Setting and delivering whole vehicle weight targets utilising sound engineering knowledge, lightweight technology trends, BoM weight roll-ups and vehicle/part measurement. Managing own project-related activities including creating and presenting reports to Senior Management. Planning and managing programmes, leading weight reduction work-streams, working in close cooperation with other functions to ensure achievement of weight targets. Constructively challenging influencing engineering departments to deliver targets. Calculating Vehicle weight and mass properties (Centre of Gravity and Moment of Inertias) using a variety of methods and data sources. Contributing to the calculation of certification weights for cross-functional agreement, based on multiple data sources and relevant legislation Competitor bench marking (including technologies used) and attribute target-setting Essential skills Experience of building strong collaborative and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. Good knowledge of CAD and Bill of Materials / spec configuration systems. Strong understanding of lightweight technologies and technology trends. Strong MS Office skills, including Macro writing.
