Job description:
Purpose of role bull; Lead and motivate installation team(s) of Operatives and specialist technicians on a daily basis, motivating and delegating work to ensure daily targets are clearly identified, achieved and ensure that all work is carried out efficiently and effectively in accordance with scheduling, Health, Safety and Quality procedures, process and requirements. Main responsibilities bull; Re-deploy Foremen and/or operatives under direct control, in order to achieve optimum productivity. bull; Advise Project Engineers / Managers in preparation of RAMS. bull; Instruct site operatives to work in adherence to RAMS. bull; Where RAMS amendment is required, follow dynamic risk assessment procedure. bull; Maintain site documentation in accordance with Health Safety Quality Procedures. bull; Ensure that new/transferred operatives receive site Health and Safety induction. bull; Monitor progress of work, checking daily progress against programme and identifying deviations. bull; Day to day liaison with Project Managers to pre-empt any likely delays etc. bull; Notify Project Engineer of any intended changes to the contracted scope (do not proceed until given authorisation from Project Manager / Engineer). bull; Fully understand the quality requirements of the contract prior to commencement. bull; Monitor, check and record quality adherence throughout the contract. bull; Advise Project Manager /Engineer with forecasted labour, plant, materials and hired equipment requirements in a timely manner. bull; Ensure Company instructions and standards of discipline, workmanship and safety are maintained bull; Deliver of tool box talks to site operatives bull; Any safety concerns must apply the stop, call wait process. bull; Supervise and record any tests and/or inspections that are required during progress of contract. bull; Ensure that Point of work risk assessments (POWRA) are recorded, completed, communicated and implemented by operatives under his direct control. bull; Ensure general housekeeping standards are maintained at all times. bull; Ensure the correct equipment is used safely as detailed within the RAMS. bull; Ensure all customer site rules are followed and respected. bull; All permits to work are in place and displayed. bull; The correct PPE is worn and used as required on the job. bull; Do not use damaged work equipment. bull; Report any damage caused to the customer rsquo;s equipment or premises immediately to the Project manager / engineer. bull; Raise any programme / timing issues with project engineer. bull; Report all accidents, incidents and near misses to project engineer immediately. bull; Ensure all countermeasures detailed in any incident report are implemented and complied with. bull; Immediately report all plant defects to depot or project Manager / Engineer. bull; Check with project engineer prior to ordering additional plant / equipment. bull; Tackle containers / boxes are kept and returned in a tidy condition. bull; Ensure actual hours worked are reflected on all time sheets. bull; Ensure that operatives maintain and safeguard all Company tools, tackle and materials. bull; Review and monitor performance and competency of site operatives and report any concerns / issues to Project manager / Engineer bull; Attend site meetings as necessary and provide constructive feedback and comment. bull; Arrange and supervise the operational hand over as directed by the Project Engineer/Manager. bull; Support Project Manager and or engineer in estimating variation requirements. bull; Record man-hours and plant usage on site and issue weekly to the Projects Engineer. bull; Update all site project boards where applicable. bull; Assist the Project Engineer with the preparation of timing plans. bull; Assist the Project Manager, Project Engineer or Health and Safety Manager with the investigation of any incident. bull; Ensure all signed RAMS, check sheets and other Health and Safety documentation are returned to the division. bull; Off hire Plant when not in use, after discussing with project Manager / Engineer. bull; Ensure test certificates / PAT tests are with the equipment. bull; All equipment is stored correctly and locked in tackle boxes and containers when not on site or in use. bull; Report items of missing or stolen tackle and equipment to Project Engineer and depot Stores Please note From time to time your manager may ask you to undertake reasonable tasks not stated within this role profile but commensurate with your position. Experience, knowledge and qualifications required Essential bull; Time served or apprentice trained. bull; Ability to work with all trades, skill levels and nationalities. bull; Ability to identify operative skill sets and assign tasks accordingly. bull; Completion of an approved engineering training scheme. bull; Experienced in the installation and relocation of industrial machinery. bull; Acquired at least 5 years practical contracting experience in an industrial engineering environment, some of which will have been in a supervisory capacity. bull; Working to deadlines and fixed-end dates. bull; Working knowledge of man-management techniques and supervisory management is essential. bull; Willing to travel and work away from home. Desirable bull; Experience in leading a multi skill set team in a project environment. bull; Strong IT (i.e. Office, Excel, Project, In-house systems, etc.) and numeracy skills Personal characteristics required bull; Self-motivated. bull; Works effectively and with flexibility in a team environment bull; Good communication skills. bull; A good systematic approach and sound common sense
