Control and instrumentation engineer

Job Title: Control and Instrumentation Engineer Reporting To: Engineering and Maintenance Director Hours: 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, 8:30am ndash; 17:00pm Location: Leeming Bar Our Client manufactures and packs soft drinks and is an important employer within Leeming Bar, Hambleton and North Yorkshire. Role Overview To ensure PLC software and hardware is, safely controlled, updated and adequate to maintain and improve plant performance and to ensure all instrumentation is controlled calibrated and fit for purpose. Deliver solutions to problems using new and existing technologies and be at the forefront of both planned and reactive stops using the C I skillset to diagnose and rectify issues. Key Responsibilities * Ensuring instrumentation and control systems comply with the relevant health and safety regulations; * Carrying out risk assessments on Process, plant, instrumentation and control systems; * Troubleshooting and fault-finding process, plant, instrumentation and control systems; * Maintaining and improving existing process, plant, instrumentation and control systems to ensure operational requirements are optimised; * Maintaining instrumentation and control systems documentation and software backup, including responsibility for disaster recovery of all aspects of the factory automated plant; * To work with the store #39;s personnel to ensure critical spares are identified and held or available when required. To maintain instrumentation capability and calibration through personal and third-party suppliers. * To develop other capable engineers and apprentices. Obtain and update software licenses. * To plan and manage your day-to-day duties, issues and projects to ensure timescales are agreed and met when necessary. * Providing call out back up to maintenance technicians in the event of breakdowns or other emergencies; Liaising with the stores and procurement coordinator when ordering relevant equipment, spares and service; Working collaboratively with suppliers, project and site teams; Providing technical expertise for HACCP studies and audits; * Production output will always be prioritised and you may be asked to perform various tasks, breakdowns or compliance issues, to ensure continuation of production. Requirements * Experienced in the development and maintenance of all aspects of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) , Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems (Siemens and Wonder ware); * Current and relevant qualifications required for electrical and Electronic engineering. * Ideally experience of working with complex Instrumentation and control systems in a food manufacturing environment. Must be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the operation, connection, test and calibration of such instrumentation and control systems; * Working knowledge of the IET Wiring Regulations and their application in the manufacturing environment; * Familiar with all aspects of operation and fault finding on Servo Drive systems; * Familiar with ATEX regulations; * Familiar with flameproof and intrinsically safe system; * Excellent creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; * Good communication and interpersonal skills; * Good team working skills;Ability to coach others and deliver training;A willingness to accept responsibility and make decisions, Excellent communication skills. * Competent in Excel, Word etc. * Engineering background and experience. * Ability to interact with external support. * Ability to work unsupervised * Flexibility on working hours and duties Overview of benefits: * Salary up to GBP55,000 per annum. * Hours are Monday - Friday 08:30am until 17:00pm. * Life Insurance is equivalent to annual salary. Pension is via the Peoples Pension, based on 5% employer and 5% employee contribution. Annual Leave is 26 day plus 5 bank holidays - Increase with length of service.
