Authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for regulated mortgage lending and administration, we are also registered with the FCA for Consumer Buy-to-Let lending. Expanding our portfolio, we entered the bridging and development finance market in 2022, offering first and second charge loans with a mix of regulated and unregulated options. About the Role We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Development Underwriter to join our team. The Development Underwriter will play a crucial role in processing refurbishment and development finance applications, ensuring compliance with our underwriting standards and lending policies. This position requires an individual with a proactive mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills. Day to Day * Manage a pipeline of development cases for initial completions and subsequent drawdowns, prioritizing effectively. * Underwrite loan applications within company lending criteria, making quality lending decisions. * Maintain regular contact with borrowers to identify issues at an early stage and explore future business opportunities. * Be vigilant when working on cases and refer to appropriate channels when necessary. * Maintain high levels of communication with stakeholders including brokers, applicants, surveyors, and solicitors. * Collaborate with other departments within the company, such as sales, compliance, finance, and collections. What we are looking for * Strong experience in underwriting development finance loans, preferably including experience with regulated loans. * Excellent understanding of compliance aspects, including regulatory requirements and principles of treating customers fairly. * Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to underwriting, balancing risk management with business objectives.
