Job Advert: SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist) Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM during term time. Pay: As an SEN Teaching Assistant with expertise in Autism, you can expect competitive rates from GBP85 to GBP100 per day. Location: This opportunity is based in Brent, a vibrant borough nestled in West London. About the School: Our client, a reputable school in the heart of Brent, is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their inclusive educational community. Situated amidst the lively streets of Brent, the school boasts modern facilities and a welcoming atmosphere conducive to learning. With a commitment to fostering the unique potential of every student, the school provides comprehensive support and resources for children with special educational needs, particularly those with Autism. Role Overview: * Provide Individualized Support: Work closely with students with Autism, tailoring support to their specific needs and learning styles. Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to promote academic progress and personal development. * Facilitate Inclusive Learning: Collaborate with class teachers and the SEN team to create inclusive learning environments where all students feel valued and supported. Adapt classroom materials and activities to accommodate the diverse needs of students with Autism. * Promote Social Skills Development: Support students in developing social skills and fostering positive relationships with peers. Facilitate structured social activities and interventions to enhance communication, cooperation, and emotional regulation. * Assist with Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, as required by individual students with Autism. Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of students at all times. * Monitor Progress and Feedback: Regularly observe and assess the progress of students with Autism, documenting achievements and areas for improvement. Provide constructive feedback to teachers and SEN coordinators to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies. Requirements: * Qualifications: Hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent. Additional training or certification in Autism awareness and support is highly desirable. * Experience: Demonstrate previous experience working with children or young people with Autism or other special educational needs in an educational setting. Familiarity with relevant strategies and interventions is essential. * Safeguarding: Possess an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to undergo the necessary checks. Understand and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures in line with REC standards. * Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with students, colleagues, and external professionals. * Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team, sharing information and resources to ensure the holistic support of students with Autism.
